Women’s Golf Set for JEL Outer Banks Intercollegiate; Worden heading to the Stephens Cup

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy Women’s Golf Team is set to compete in the JEL Outer Banks Women’s Intercollegiate Tournament this weekend in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, while Senior Captain Eve Worden will compete in the prestigious Jackson T. Stephens Cup in Juno Beach, Florida.

About JEL Outer Banks Intercollegiate

Taking place at Duck Woods Country Club and hosted by JEL College Golf Tournaments, the JEL Outer Banks Intercollegiate will be a 54-hole event on Saturday and Sunday October 8 and 9…Saturday is scheduled for a 7:57 a.m. start, with two rounds played on the day opening… The final round of the tournament will also begin at 7:57 am on Sunday.

Navy will be joined at the event by Maryland-Eastern Shore, Mount St. Mary’s, Niagara and North Carolina A&T… This will be the second straight weekend the Mids will face Mount St. Mary’s, with the Mountaineers finishing ninth at this Navy Fall Invitational last weekend.

Worden at the Stephens Cup

Representing the Navy alongside male golfer Keegan Shreves, Worden will travel to the Seminole Golf Club for the second annual Jackson T. Stephens Cup…Worden will compete in 54 holes in stroke play on Monday and Tuesday, October 10 and 11, with the first two rounds commencing Monday at 7.30am, while the last round of stroke play begins at 10am on Tuesday…18 holes of team match play will take place on Wednesday…The Stephens Cup is named in memory of the late National Chairman of Augusta, Jackson T. Stephens, who attended the Naval Academy and was a member of the Class of 1947… The field at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium is called Jack Stephens Field, whose $10 million donation in 2003 has helped renovate Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, as well as a handful of other projects as part of the United States Naval Academy campaign; Leaders at the service of the nation… Golfer graduated from the Navy Tori Smith represented the Mids last year along with male representative Nick Klock.

The women’s field features 2022 national champion Stanford, South Carolina, Wake Forest, LSU, USC, Arkansas and Duke… Besides Worden, other individual guests are Howard’s Marley Franklin and Kendall Jackson and North Carolina A&T’s Jayla Rogers.

The three-day competition will be televised live on GOLF Channel. Live streams will take place on each official playing day of the tournament: Monday, October 10 from 4-7 p.m., Tuesday, October 11 from 3-6 p.m., and Wednesday, October 12 from 3-6 p.m.… Live score can be found on GolfStat .com.

Four female Navy golfers finished in the top 20 individually as the midshipmen shot a par 616 from 40 to take first place among 15 teams at the Navy Fall Invitational, held at the US Naval Academy Golf Club over the weekend. last end… The Mids entered the final round in first place after shooting the weekend’s lowest team round at 13-over by 301 on Saturday in rain and wind, and Navy held on ahead of the rest of the pack with a 27-over par 315 on Sunday… A pair of Mids finished tied at six for sixth place, as juniors Mara Hirtle and Stephanie Lee the two finished the game Sunday at 8-over by 152… Two more Mids, Worden and sophomore Bridget Hoangfinished the weekend tied for 18th at 12-over by 156 … Navy’s last scorer was a freshman Sue Lee in 47th place, as the rookie shot an overall score of 20 on the par 164… Sophomores Jenna Han (23-over by 167; 59th) and Hannah Han Kim (29-over by 173; 69th), with a freshman Hallie Brisco (30-over by 174; 72nd), competed individually in the home tournament.


The Mids head to the Lady Blue Hen Invitational next weekend, to be held at Rehoboth Country Club by the University of Delaware.
