Unique resort to ’embrace’ the best golf course in a $70 million redevelopment

The “largest and most opulent” resort project of its kind in Australia is springing into action on the Sunshine Coast.

A first in the life of the over 50s, the $70 million Pelican Waters development will marry a ‘reconfigured’ version of the famous golf course designed by Greg Norman.

The Springs by Palms Lake Resort is ready to begin its next phase of construction, with the completion of preliminary civic and earthworks.

Groundbreaking was shot in August 2021, but initial work took longer than expected due to the recent deluge.

Palm Lake Resort Sales Manager Alysia Nechvoglod confirmed Sunny Coast News this building can now begin and the station would have a revised opening date.

She said that when completed, The Springs would be the group’s most “iconic” and “game-changing” address.

Residents of The Springs will be close to a first class golf course.

Major renovations are also underway at the Pelican Waters Golf Club, including a reconfiguration of the existing golf course, which was considered one of the best in the country, to accommodate the new development.

“Until now it was all about earthworks and civil engineering,” Ms Nechvoglod said.

“The first homes and facilities will be next with a new opening date expected in early 2023.

“Of course, it depends on the weather conditions.”

Approximately 320 custom-designed homes will make up the complex, boasting either waterfront or direct access to the golf course. An impressive lakeside community hub will provide social, sports and wellness facilities.

Design-wise, The Springs will take inspiration from Palm Springs-style mid-century modernism and provide an “everyday vacation” feel.

Approximately 320 custom-designed homes will make up the resort.

“There are four main districts within the Country Club at Palm Lake Resort Pelican Waters: a social/dining district, a sports district, a health and wellness district, and an arts and recreation district” , said Ms. Nechvoglod.

“Eldorado is the sports district – and what a district it will be, both for those who like to stay active and healthy, and for those who just like fun and social competition.

“There is a two-lane bowling alley, golf simulation rooms, a dedicated table tennis room, tennis courts and pickleball courts.

“The jewel in the crown of this sports complex is the bowling green covered with eight rinks.”
