The Turlock Girls’ Golf team ended their season at the CIF Masters Tournament. The Bulldogs have managed to beat their rivals CCAL for the second time in the last three tournaments to end their season on a high note.
The subclasses paved the way for the Bulldogs as the two freshmen and two sophomores set the tone for the day. Sophomore Sydney Streeter led the scoring for Turlock with a score of 76, which just wasn’t enough to qualify for the NorCals.
âShe will get there next year and I think Savannah is motivated to do the same.
It was a great year and a great performance from the whole team. I’m so proud of these young women and can’t wait to see what we can do next year, âsaid head coach Mary Krupka.
Streeter did manage to win the CCAL MVP title for the season, however. Freshman Savannah Van Gaalan made the first all-CCAL team. Freshman Reece Benjamin and Senior Madi Mendes qualified for the all-CCLA second team. Finally, sophomore Isabella Dowd received honorable mentions from CCAL.
Krupka had a list of goals at the start of the season, and the team were able to achieve them all. The Bulldogs won the Merced Tournament and Van Gaalan won the Individuals. Streeter won an individual victory at the Hilmar tournament. They beat Enoch and won the CCAL mid-season tournament. They were league champions, made the CIF tournament and qualified for the CIF Masters tournament; where they beat Enochs to win the Masters Tournament.
âIt’s a good team and we lost to them last week by three strokes. We had to end with a victory over them, âsaid Krupka.
This is the Bulldogs’ first title in three years, after Turlock won the championship in the first 15 seasons of Krupka’s tenure.
