Third place at Goodwin – Stanford University Athletics

STANFORD, Calif. – Stanford’s No. 14 men’s golf finished under 17 and third in the 2022 Goodwin on Saturday at Stanford Golf Course. The Cardinal was 3 over for the day and passed for the tag team trophy by No. 9 Washington, who shot 10 under to claim the title. On the individual side, Nevada’s Peyton Callens birdied a 25-foot putt on the 18th to break a tie and earn individual medalist honors at under 13.

The Cardinal started the day on top, but the Huskies charged hard and tied for four points or better. Second year Michael Thorbjornsen and senior Henry Chimp the two fired even Saturday to lead Stanford. Thorbjornsen finished tied for eighth at 7 under for the tournament, followed by Karl Vilips at 5-minus.

Stanford will next take the course at the Pasatiempo Golf Course April 11-13 for the 75th Western Intercollegiate. The event will serve as Stanford’s last regular season tournament before the playoffs begin.
