The 2022 Genesis Scottish Open is halfway through, and Cameron Tringale retains the solo lead with 7 holes under 36 played at the Renaissance Club. Tringale came down to earth a bit on Friday, posting a 2-for-72 after going a career-best 9-under 61 in the first round on Thursday. But Tringale’s three-shot advantage remains intact heading into the weekend after Gary Woodland also came back with a 2-of-72 on Friday after posting a 6-under 64 on Thursday.
Tringale will be tasked with holding a crowded standings behind him this weekend as other big names look to move over the next two days. World No. 11 Xander Schauffele had the biggest surge of any golfer on Friday, with a 5-under 65 for the lowest round of the day. Schauffele sits T4 at 3 under for the event alongside Kurt Kitayama, Jordan Smith and 2022 US Open champion Matthew Fitzpatrick. Don’t overlook Rickie Fowler, either, who sits in T8 at 2 under for the event as he seeks his first pro win since early 2019.
