Razorback MGolf adds Christian Castillo

FAYETTEVILLE –Christian Castillo will join the Arkansas men’s golf program for the 2022-23 season, head coach Brad McMakin announced.

Castillo has played the past two seasons at High Point and is a native of Allen, Texas.

Last season, Castillo played in all 10 events at High Point and led the Panthers with an average of 72.97 while posting team highs in eagles (6), birdies (84), par-3 (3 ,16), par-4. (4.16), score par-5 (4.69) and 12 rounds of shooting par or better. He was named the Big South Golfer of the Week by finishing third with a 9-under 204 – thanks to a career-best 66 in the final round – at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate.

In 2020-21, Castillo only played six events due to a COVID-shortened schedule. He was a runner-up in his college debut, shooting a 70 in the 18-hole Wrangle at the Tangle against Gardner-Webb. He posted a season-best 69 in the first round of the Linger Longer Invitational and finished with a 3 of 219 tied for 27th. He also finished tied for 31st in the Big South Championship (73-76-71).

In the summer of 2021, he qualified for the TPC Colorado Korn Ferry Tour Championship on Monday, shooting a 66 under par. He made the cut after the opening rounds 72-71 and eventually tied in the 81st. Also in 2021, he was runner-up in the Dixie Amateur and eighth in the Sunshine State Amateur.
