Paul Boozer of Kent of Sheerness Golf Club won this year’s Teise Trophy at Lamberhurst Golf Club.
A score of 152 overall in the Kent Golf Order of Merit event was enough to seal victory in the 30-person low-handicap amateur competition.
After several years of hiatus due to bad weather, lack of participants and the Covid-19 pandemic, it was a relief for all concerned at Lamberhurst to restore the Teise Trophy, first played in 2005 and including European Tour player Alfie Plant as one of his former champions.
Previously held in May, the competition was postponed to a new date in September.
As a 36-hole competition at the club near Tunbridge Wells, Kent, the scores in the morning round reflected the difficulties posed by the sloping and delicate greens with only one local member, Gary Collins, able to match the by 72.
The afternoon scores showed that the players had learned to cope with the difficult conditions of their morning rounds and the scores improved significantly in most cases.
Sheerness Golf Club is located in Sheerness, Kent.
