BANNING, CA —Registration is open for the annual Habitat for Humanity San Gorgonio Pass Area Memorial Golf Tournament. In honor of Jim Helsop, the Habitat for Humanity founder of the pass zone, the memorial tournament will take place on April 23, 2022, according to event coordinators.
The tournament will take place at Morongo Golf Club in Tukwet Canyon.
All are welcome to participate as a sponsor, golfer or both. The funds raised during the tournament will go to the 15th Habitat house in the region, according to the organizers.
“It promises to be a fun-filled day of great golf, tasty food and shared camaraderie,” a Habitat for Humanity spokesperson said.
Participants will take part in a four-person scramble. Registrations are open on www.habitatsgpa.org from Sunday.
San Gorgonio Pass Area Habitat for Humanity was founded by Jim Heslop in 1999 to provide quality housing for qualified low-income families in the pass area.
“To date, we have provided homes for 14 families and are in the planning stages for our next home,” they said. The golf tournament will provide the necessary funds to make this happen.
The tournament format is a 4-person race, with prizes for contest holes and trophies for team high scores.
Player registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and play begins with a gunshot at 9:00 a.m.
