MEDICAL RESPONSIBILITIES • Assess each call situation to determine the best course of action and appropriate protocol. • Use medical equipment and procedures, including defibrillator, ECG monitor, oxygen and suction devices, intravenous fluids, CPR, and other procedures and medications necessary to provide advanced medical care. • Develop and use triage skills to provide optimal efficiency on calls. • Provide patient care according to clinical protocols and safety requirements. • Lift and move patients as needed to provide optimal care. • Communicate with the host institution to receive medical directives and provide critical information. • Act as team leader and assume responsibility for scene and unit management as required. • Drive the ambulance and provide map reading assistance to minimize response time to calls. • Maintain all required certifications at all times. • Monitor and maintain the overall health of the unit, keeping it clean and provisioned for optimal response to calls to maintain the RAM image. • Completely document patient care and billing activities to ensure appropriate information is available for each call. • Follow policies and procedures regarding drop off times and turnaround times. • Consider patient status and preferred insurance facilities when determining transportation destinations. • Immediately reports to the Duty Supervisor and/or Account Manager any incident involving a negative interaction with a customer and/or patient. • Read medication/prescription labels and instructions for use quickly, accurately and quickly. • Communicate verbally with patients and significant others in various settings to interview the patient, family members and bystanders. • Discern eye/skin color deviations/changes due to the patient’s condition and the treatment administered. • Confer with dispatch and EMS providers by phone or radio regarding patient’s condition.
MINIMUM MEDICAL QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Some graduate studies preferred. • Current and updated paramedical license. • Possess a valid state driver’s license. • Current and updated BCLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP, BTLS or PHTLS provider certification.
• Driving record in accordance with the AMR driving and safety policy. • Past work experience, preferably in the desired healthcare field.
