Local Students Earn Provincial Golf Medals – SwiftCurrentOnline.com

Some high school students from the Southwest are winning medals from the SHSAA Provincial Golf Championships at Jackfish Lodge.

Chloe Wills of Kyle Composite School won the girls’ silver medal with a two-round score of 162, who was second to gold medalist Ella Kozak of Yorkton Sacred Heart (136). Swift Current Comprehensive High School’s Niya Friesen won bronze with a total score of 173. SCCHS’ Mia Riegel scored 197 in the individual competition while Lyla Thiessen, also of Swift Current, scored 217.

Friesen, Riegel and Thiessen combined to win silver for SWAC in the tag team competition with an aggregate score of 355. East Central District won gold (345) and Horizon Central won bronze ( 361).

On the boys’ side, SCCHS’ Logan Lenz had the lowest SWAC score with 175, followed by fellow student Comp Ayden Ross with 176 and Makstr McIntyre with 177, and Maple Creek’s Cameron Schwab picked up a 179. The combined quartet for a team score of 492.

Max Regier of Walter Murray Collegiate in Saskatoon won the gold medal in boys with a score of 144, and the Southeast District won the team competition with an overall score of 437.
