Golf wins the Saint-Laurent invitation, DeCrow Top Individual

CANTON, NY – The Ithaca College golf program opened the fall 2022 season with an individual and team championship at the St. Lawrence Invitational at Oliver Appleton Golf Course on September 3-4.
Ithaca shot a two-day total 663 (+89) on the 5,830-yard par-72 course to beat Cortland by five strokes over the weekend.

The Bombers shot a 336 (+48) on Saturday and followed that up with a 327 (+39) to win the tag team title. Cortland shot 668 (337-331), while Union was third, Utica is fourth and Canton fifth in team results.

Rheanna DeCrow was the best individual player in the 29-man squad with a 155 [+11] (79-76). DeCrow finished the first round tied for first place with his teammate Cristea Park and drew the low round of the tournament on Sunday. DeCrow shot a career-low round Sunday with plus-four 76 as she birdied the par-4 for 354 yards 2n/a hole and the 4th hole par-4 of 440 yards. She also recorded a pair of birdies on Saturday on the 1st par-4 of 286 yards and the 6th par-4 of 295 yards. Throughout the weekend, DeCrow carded 19 pars.

Park finished fourth overall with a two-round total of 166 (+22) as she started with a 79 (+7) and finished with an 87 (+15). Park had two birdies on Saturday when she was one under on the 11th par-5 for 508 yards and the 8th par-5 for 483 yards.

Marie Gersec placed fifth with a 170 (+26) as she shot 85 both days. Gersec had six pars in Saturday’s round and seven more on Sunday. She gained two places on the last day of competition.

Outside of DeCrow’s career performance this weekend, Annika Michael produced the greatest improvement from round one to round two. Michel shot a 93 (+21) on Saturday in his collegiate first round, but followed it up with a 79 (+7) on Sunday to improve by 14 shots and move from 14th to ninth place in the individual standings. She birdied the par-4, 324-yard 15th Sunday and parried another 10 holes in the round.

The Bombers travel to Hamilton College next weekend for a two-day event at Yahnandasis Golf Club on September 10-11.
