Proposals for the new East Lothian club facilities took a step forward after terms were agreed with CALA Homes (East) and a detailed planning request was submitted.
Funding for the improvements will be made possible by a 78-home development by CALA, designed to blend in with the surroundings and split between two locations on the club’s existing grounds.
The first phase will see the construction of the clubhouse, golf academy and driving range as well as 60 new houses south of the site towards Deer Park cemetery.
Meanwhile, 18 homes will form phase two to the north on land that includes the location of the current clubhouse.
Located to the left of the current second hole, G1 Architects are designing the £ 3.6million clubhouse, having previously been involved in projects at Castle Stuart Golf Links, Kingsbarns and the recently opened clubhouse at Dumbarnie Links.
The nine-hole par 3 course is designed by RAW Golf Design, which involves DJ Russell and 1991 Masters winner Ian Woosnam.
Jacky Montgomery, Director of Golf at Dunbar, said: âHaving these exciting new facilities will not only be a major benefit to our members and visitors, but it will also open up important opportunities for local people to get involved. golf and enjoy the many health benefits. and the welfare aspects of participation in sport.
“From the driving range to the academy, via the training area for the small game and the Par 3 golf course, we are breaking down barriers in the game.”
