The Kentucky High School Athletic Association Boys’ State Golf Championship two-day golf championship wrapped up at Bowling Green Country Club with a local golfer still competing on Saturday.
After shooting a day 1 of 81 on Friday, Carson Childress of LaRue County followed with a 78 on Saturday for a total score of 159. The 5th individual regional champion finished the tournament tied for 47th place, sharing the place. with Landon from Christian County. Hunt, Kade Benton from Estill County, Sunny Pal from Greenwood and Gabe Shelley from Spencer County.
Other area golfers who made it to Bowling Green but were not selected for day two included region 5 finalist Cooper Crump of Meade County and Tyler Todd of Elizabethtown. Crump and Todd both tied for 128th place with Luke Bellamy of County Breathitt, Mitchell Gastright of Covington Catholic, Will Carter and Matt Schaefer of St. Henry, Brady Westwood of Bullitt Central, Cannon Ford of McCracken County and Haydon Reynolds of Trigg County.
Matthew Troutman of Christian Academy-Louisville finished as the boys’ individual state champion with a total score of 139 over two days. The Centurions also won the boys’ tag team state title with a combined score of 597, a stroke ahead of Madison Central at 598.
