Catawba Springs Golf Course to be Upgraded | News from local businesses

HICKORY – The Lake Hickory Country Club has announced that it has selected Jeff Lawrence of Lawrence Golf Design to help the club develop a master plan to update the 27-hole course at Catawba Springs Golf Course.

The Lake Hickory Country Club, the Catawba Springs course and training facility, was originally designed in 1970 by renowned design architect Willard Byrd.

Lawrence’s envisioned reimagining plan aims to modernize the facility while improving sustainable maintenance practices and broadening its appeal to golfers of all skill levels.

“Being involved in future improvements to the golf course is so exciting,” Lawrence said.

“There is so much potential to make a significant difference in the golf experience at Lake Hickory Country Club, and I have no doubts that the proposed improvements will have a powerful and positive influence on LHCC. I imagine a golf course that retains its original character, but looks cleaner, more polished and more refined. Improved definition, improved playing surfaces (turf quality), improved visual aesthetics and healthy hydraulic management will have a huge impact on the overall golf experience at Lake Hickory Country Club.

The project will be overseen by Ken Church, Managing Director; Brian Reppart, Director of Golf; and Jeff Clemmons, Golf Course Superintendent for LHCC.
