CLEVELAND, Ohio – The OHSAA State Golf Tournament is looming on the horizon and Northeast Ohio’s best of the best are ready for a trip to Columbus. Here’s everything you need to know about the Division III Boys State Golf Championship.

When: Friday and Saturday October 15-16 from 9 a.m.
Who wins: The state tournament trophies will be awarded to the champion and finalist teams. Individual members of both teams will receive gold or silver prizes. Prizes will be presented to the coach of the champion and finalist teams as well as to the medalist and finalist of each division.
Team Status Qualifications
Gilmour Academy – 315
Alex Swinarski (Sr., 71), Jack Popovich (Sr., 84), Nathan Flaherty (Sr., 85), Eric Anton (Sr., 79), Harry Rogers (Sr., 81)
The only district team with all the seniors, Gilmour is a state favorite. Swinarski’s 71 was the best individual score in the Tannenhauf district. The Lancers finished nine strokes ahead of second-placed Dalton for the state’s fourth-best qualifying score.
Dalton – 324
Jaden Schlabach (Jr., 77), Brendan Lehman (Jr., 83), Preston Wenger (Sr., 81), Trevor Horst (Sr., 83), Todd Brahler (Jr., 87)
Led by the Schlabach 77, the performances of the Bulldogs’ all-round team catapulted them. Dalton put four golfers in the top 20 – the most of any school.
Independence – 331
Mark Pillar (So., 83), Charlie DeCapua (Jr., 82), Sam Coddington (Jr., 88), Andrew Marcinko (Jr., 78), David Eichler (Sr., 92)
Independence edged out Columbiana to claim the state’s final berth. Led by Marchinko’s 78, eighth among individuals, the Blue Devils registered three golfers in the top 20.
Individual State Qualifications
Caleb Domitrovich (Jr., McDonald – 74)
While a fifth-place tie was not enough for Team McDonald’s, the school will be represented by Domitrovich. After a three-way tie for second place, Domitrovich won the playoff hole to claim an individual state offer.
Dillon Pendergast (Jr., Mogadore – 74)
Mogadore was fifth, but Pendergast made sure the Wildcats didn’t come away empty-handed. After the playoffs, Pendergast won a draw for the state’s second qualifying position.
Brock Durbin (So., Mapleton – 74)
One of two Mapleton golfers at the district tournament, the runner-up secured the last state qualifying spot for individuals.
