Gurgaon: The execution wing of Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) razed about 1,500 jhuggies and shops on Tuesday to clear about 3 acres of land on Golf Course Road amid the protests. The HSVP has yet to clear another 4 acres of land at this location. The authority, according to an official, plans to make a long two-day trip from Wednesday to eliminate squatters from the area.
HSVP (Gurgaon) estate agent-2 Jitender Kumar said several illegal structures have appeared on 7 acres of land in the Nathupur area along the golf course road. The authority cleared about 3 acres on Tuesday and the remaining land will be cleared of invaders within the next two days.
SDO (poll) Satyanarayan and his team arrived at the site around 11am and gave the invaders an hour to collect their belongings. “However, a few people started to protest against the reader. With the help of the police, the demolition was carried out and we managed to clear 3 hectares, ”he said.
“Four teams were deployed for the encroachment campaign and it continued until around 4:00 pm,” junior engineer Sandeep Lot said, adding that the demolition campaign would resume on Wednesday.
“The land was acquired in 2009 and the owners received compensation from the authority,” Lot said, adding that in addition to the jhuggies there were several shops and restaurants. The land is along the rapid underground line on Golf Course Road.
